10/22/2023 0 Comments Solidworks with kinectThere is a nice tool to check thickness- via evaluate, thickness analysis: There are 2 simple varieties here: maintain a more uniform thickness or provide adequate venting. This results in poor final quality like burn marks and blackened surfaces. The Dieseling Effect happens when air combusts under compression. We do NOT see any air traps in this design (otherwise we would see a similar icon to the gate location). Why do they happen? As converging plastic melt flow fronts create an air pocket, you can have this especially if venting does not happen. The Air Trap option on the Flow Results shows locations of air traps superimposed over the Fill Time plot. When the air gets pushed to an area of the part it cannot easily be vented, it’s referred to as an air trap. The air is typically vented to atmosphere through vents machined in the mold at the parting line or down ejector pins. As a mold fills with melted plastic, the air in the cavities is displaced by the plastic.
